SAN MARCOS, Texas- Preparing for its first season under new Director of Track & Field/Cross Country
John Frazier, the Texas State track and field program unveiled its 2022 indoor and outdoor schedule that features two home outdoor meets and road trips to several of the nation's premier competitions.

Frazier was named Texas State's Director of Track & Field/Cross Country on August 2 after serving as the throws coach for eight seasons and men's track and field head coach for four years at UCLA. He has coached 57 All-Americans, five NCAA Champions, and four Olympians during his career.Â

Texas State's indoor schedule includes seven meets, and the outdoor schedule consists of 12 meets, including the Texas State Invitational and the inaugural Charles Austin Classic.

"Our staff is excited about our indoor and outdoor schedules as we will have high-level competitions, and most of our meets are in the great State of Texas," Frazier said. "Honoring Charles Austin with the "Charles Austin Classic" will be a positive look for recognizing his great accomplishments during his track and field career."

The Bobcats open their indoor season at Texas Tech's Corky Classic on January 15 before competing at Houston's Fastrack Collegiate and High School Challenge on Jan. 21-22 and Nebraska's Adidas Classic on Jan. 27-29.

Texas State opens February at the Texas A&M Charlie Thomas Invitational on Feb. 4-5 and returns to Texas Tech for the Texas Tech Shootout on Feb. 11-12.

The Bobcats travel to the Sun Belt Conference Indoor Championships on Feb. 21-22 in Birmingham, Ala. The NCAA Indoor Championships are on Mar. 10-12 in Birmingham.

Texas State's outdoor season begins with UTSA's Roadrunner Invitational on Mar. 18-19.

 The Bobcats will split into partial teams when they host the Texas State Invitational on Mar. 24-26 and compete at the Texas Relays in Austin on Mar. 23-26.

Texas State travels to LSU for the Battle on the Bayou on April 1-2, before returning home to host the inaugural Charles Austin Classic on April 15-16.

Charles Austin was an Olympic Gold Medalist, the American and Olympic record holder in the high jump, a two-time world champion, and NCAA outdoor champion. He graduated from Southwest Texas State, now Texas State, in 1991 with a bachelor's degree in business administration.

After the Austin Classic, the Bobcats travel to Baylor's Michael Johnson Classic on April 22-23 before splitting into two groups the following weekend. One group travels to the Texas Invitational in Austin on April 29-30, and another group goes to Texas Tech's Corky/Crofoot Shootout on April 29-30.

Texas State travels to the Sun Belt Conference Championships on May 12-14 in Lafayette, La.

The NCAA West Preliminary Round is on May 25-28 in Fayetteville, Ark. The NCAA Outdoor Championships will be June 8-11 in Eugene, Ore.Â
