COLLEGE STATION, Texas – The Texas State men's and women's cross country teams completed their 2021 regular season schedule at Texas A&M's Arturo Barrios Invitational on Saturday. The Bobcats competed against 31 men's teams and 32 women's teams on the Dale Watts Cross Country Course.
The men's team finished the eight-kilometer race in 22nd place, ahead of UT Arlington, TCU, UTSA, Tulane, and Louisiana with an average time of 25:43.80.
The women's team finished their six-kilometer contest in 26th place, ahead of North Texas, Louisiana, Lamar, and Houston Baptist with an average time of 23:32.99.
The men's team was led by sophomore
A.J. Tyler II who finished the race in a career-best time of 25:14.7.
Dylan Pitts also had a career-best time of 25:39.1, and
Jackson Burnett had a time of 25:39.2.
Koket Jimata ha d a time of 26:00.4, Travian Hoist finished in 26:05.6, and
Nicholas Mosqueda posted a career-best time of 26:26.5.
Megan Ombres led the Texas State women's team with a career-best time of 22:42.7. The other six Bobcat runners also posted career-best six-kilometer times.
Jessica Myers finished the course in 23:32.5, Angie Lujan-Marrufo posted a time of 23:36.1,
Daniela Wisniewski had a time of 23:44.2,
Aubrey Schmidt had a time of 24:09.6,
Michelle Wisniewski ran the course in 25:18.2, and
Olivia Johnson had a time of 25:52.7.
Texas State will next compete at the 2021 Sun Belt Conference Championships on October 29, at Brookley by the Bay in Mobile, Ala., The championships are hosted by South Alabama.
