SAN MARCOS, Texas – The Green Bay Packers announced Saturday night that the team has agreed to terms to bring in former Texas State linebacker
Frankie Griffin as an undrafted free agent.

A native of Spring, Texas, Griffin was a preseason All-Sun Belt Conference Third Team selection before playing in 11 games and starting nine contests in 2019. Griffin was third on the team with 67 total tackles and 6.0 tackles for loss. He recorded 36 solo stops, 1.5 sacks and two quarterback hurries. Griffin also forced two fumbles, recovered another fumble, and blocked a kick on special teams.

He recorded a season-high of 11 tackles against Louisiana and had a season-best of six solo stops against the Ragin' Cajuns and Troy. He tallied eight tackles with a season-best of 2.0 tackles for loss against South Alabama, and seven stops and a forced fumble versus Troy. He forced a fumble against Appalachian State, and recovered another fumble at Texas A&M.

Griffin earned Honorable Mention All-Sun Belt Conference honors in 2018 after tallying 71 tackles with 33 unassisted stops. He also ranked 17th among Sun Belt Conference leaders with 8.0 tackles for loss and two sacks. He recorded a season-high of nine tackles against Louisiana and Georgia State.

He also was named an All-Sun Belt Third-Team selection after starting 12 games and ranking third on the team with 74 total tackles in 2017. He ranked ninth among Sun Belt leaders with 11.5 tackles for loss and was 20th in the Sun Belt with 4.0 sacks. Griffin tallied a season-high of 13 total tackles and registered a season-high of nine solo tackles (nine total) against New Mexico State

Griffin started the final eight games of the 2016 season and recorded 46 tackles, with 31 solo stops. He had a season-best of 11 tackles against Arkansas State.

He ended his career having started 39 games in his Bobcat career after graduating from Klein Collins High School.
