SAN MARCOS, Texas – The first weekend away from Bobcat Ballpark will see the Texas State baseball team (6-3) take on Houston (2-5) at Schroeder Field. Both Friday and Saturday are scheduled for 6:30 p.m. first pitches and the series finale on Sunday will begin at 2 p.m.

The game will be streamed through the Cougars athletic website and live stats will be available for all three games. There won't be a home radio broadcast for any of the games.

SERIES VS. COUGARS
Houston leads the all-time series 28-17 over Texas State. Since 2010, the Bobcats have won 11 of the 15 games including a 9-4 contest last season during the Shriners College Classic at Minute Maid Park.

This weekend will be the first series playing in Houston since 2012. That year saw TXST take two of three games. When playing the Cougars in true road games, the Bobcats are 9-23 all-time.

Texas State defeated Rice 9-2 Wednesday night for its fifth consecutive win over the Owls.
Dalton Shuffield drove in three runs while
John Wuthrich came around to score thrice. Wuthrich is the lone Bobcat hitting over .300 at .375. He shares the team lead with two home runs and six RBI with
Will Hollis and
Cole Coffey, respectively.

There have been no changes to the weekend rotation that begins with
Zachary Leigh on Friday night.
Trevis Sundgren will get the ball Saturday and
Wes Engle takes the hill to close out the series on Sunday.

Out of the bullpen,
Matthew Nicholas has made a team-high five appearances and totaled 4.1 innings. In that time he has struck eight.
Tristan Stivors has recorded two saves and
Brent Hebert has one. Hebert paces the staff with two wins.

ABOUT HOUSTON
Houston is coming off a 6-5 loss in 12 innings on Tuesday to UT Rio Grande Valley. It was the Cougars' third straight defeat after dropping games to then No. 1 Texas Tech and Tennessee to close out the Round Rock Classic.

Junior college transfer Ryan Hernandez leads UH with a .310 batting average, nine runs and three doubles. He has also hit three homers and driven in eight runs.

Steven Rivas has recorded three home runs with a team-high nine RBI while batting .276. Tyler Bielamowicz comes in hitting .273 with half of his six hits being doubles.

Top arms out of the bullpen have been Tristen Bayless (0-1, 5.19 ERA), Isaiah Blaylock (0-1, 1.59 ERA) and Carter Henry (0-1, 9.00 ERA). All have appeared in a team-high four games.
