HOUSTON, Texas – Junior
Rishona Israel-Lewis picked up two wins individually, but Texas State dropped its second consecutive match for the first time this season vs. Rice, 6-1, on Friday at the George R. Brown Tennis Center.
The Bobcats (4-3) lost the doubles points, but R. Israel-Lewis and junior
Hana Kvapilova improve to 5-0 this spring with a massive 7-6 (8-6) victory against No. 40 senior Priya Niezgoda and sophomore Anastasia Smirnova. R. Israel-Lewis are now 8-1 overall dating back to the fall with eight straight victories.
The Owls (5-4) won single courts No. 2- No.6 in straight sets, but R. Israel-Lewis took down junior Michaela Haet in three sets on the top court, 6-3, 6-3, 1-0 (10-5), recording the Bobcats only point in the match.
Texas State will challenge Houston at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Barbara Wallace Winston Tennis Facility.
