Away Matches This Weekend in the Pelican State

SAN MARCOS, Texas – The Texas State soccer team completes its Sun Belt Conference road slate this weekend with two matches in the state of Louisiana. First up is ULM on Friday at 7 p.m. at Brown Stadium followed by a rematch with Louisiana on Sunday at 1 p.m. at the Ragin' Cajuns Soccer/Track Complex.
 
Both matches will have live stats available. Sunday's match against the Ragin' Cajuns will be streamed on ESPN+.
 
Goals2Cure
Texas State is putting on its fourth annual Goals2Cure initiative that raises funds in support of women fighting ovarian cancer. TXST is collecting pledges for each goal scored this season with donations going directly to benefit the National Ovarian Cancer Coalition. Last Weekend
The Bobcats dropped matches to Arkansas State and Little Rock both by 2-0 scores. Three of the foul goals allowed came from set pieces/penalty kicks. The two losses drop TXST's record to 1-6-1 overall and 1-2-0 in conference play.
 
Beth Agee combined to make seven saves over the two contests. She now has 47 on the season that continues to the lead the nation.
 
Scouting ULM
ULM comes into the weekend 0-3-0 on the season and 0-2-0 in the Sun Belt. Last weekend saw the Warhawks drop both matches on the road by 3-0 scores to Central Arkansas and Louisiana. They began the year with a 6-1 loss at Arkansas State. Friday will be ULM's home opener and first of four consecutive contests at Brown Stadium.
 
Courtney Martin scored the lone goal of the season, leads the team with two shots on goal and is second with four shot attempts. Janet Stopka paces the squad with five shots.
 
Hailey Hilock has started all three matches between the posts. She has surrendered 12 goals for a 4.00 GAA while making 16 saves to sport a .571 save percentage.
 
All-Time vs. Warhawks
Texas State leads the all-time series 14-6-1 over ULM. The Bobcats have won the last three meetings and are undefeated in the last five. Last season saw TXST win 5-0 on the road with two goals apiece from Kaylee Davis and Jordan Kondikoff. When playing the Warhawks in Monroe, Texas State is 7-3-0 all-time.
 
ULM Attendance Policy
- Masks will be required to be worn when entering the stadium and moving around Brown Stadium.
- Fans can remove masks when seated.
- All seating at Brown Stadium is general admission. Fans are asked to please socially distance from each other.
- Limited capacity at the stadium is 25% (750 fans).
- No fans will be allowed on the playing surface at any point. Fans will not be allowed on the field following the match and players will not be allowed to interact with fans following the conclusion of the match.
 
Scouting Louisiana
Louisiana begins the weekend 3-3-0 on the season and 1-2-0 in conference play. The Ragin' Cajuns split last weekend with a win over ULM and a 2-1 loss to Arkansas State with both contests at home. Sunday's match will be the fourth of seven consecutive home dates for Louisiana. Prior to facing Texas State, the Cajuns will host Louisiana Tech Friday night.
 
Karleen Bedre and Lizzie Mayfield have both scored two goals. Mayfield paces the team with 14 shots and 10 shots on goal. The only other player to take double-digit shots has been Gwen Mummert with 10 attempts.
 
Jordan Higgins started the first four matches in goal and sports a 1.19 GAA, 16 saves and a .726 save percentage. Playing the past two contests between the posts has been Lauryn Starwood. The freshman begins the weekend with a 0.53 GAA, four saves and a .800 save percentage.
 
All-Time vs. Ragin' Cajuns
Texas State leads the all-time series 8-1-0 over Louisiana after winning the first meeting this season 3-2 back on Sept. 20. That match saw two goals scored in the final six minutes from Kiara Gonzales and Emma Jones. That victory extended the Bobcats' winning streak in the series to seven matches.
 
When playing the Cajuns on the road, TXST is 3-1-0 all-time. The last meeting in Lafayette was on Sept. 21, 2018 and saw the Bobcats win 2-1 in double overtime with the match-winner coming from Ally Kewish.
 
The lone loss to Louisiana was on Oct. 18, 2013. The first meeting as Sun Belt opponents saw the Cajuns win 5-2.
 
Louisiana Attendance Policy
- Fans are required to war face coverings at all times while in the stadium with the exception of when eating or drinking.
- Seats will be marked off as unavailable to insure social distancing.
- At the conclusion of the match, staff will coordinate egress by fans to prevent clusters.
- Fans are not allowed on the field at nay time. This includes pre-game and post-game.
