SAN MARCOS, Texas – The Texas State women's tennis team will travel to Georgia this weekend for a pair of Sun Belt Conference matches.
The Bobcats will begin the road trip at Georgia State on Saturday morning in a match at the GSU Clarkston Courts in Atlanta starting at 10:30 a.m. Then, the Bobcats travel to Statesboro, Ga. for a match at Georgia Southern at the Wallis Tennis Center on Sunday at 10 a.m.
Texas State (5-8) enters Saturday's match at Georgia State after splitting a pair of Sun Belt matches at the Bobcat Tennis Complex on Mar. 23-24. Texas State won a 4-1 decision over Louisiana on Saturday before falling 4-3 against ULM on Sunday.
Ana Perez leads the Bobcats this season and ranks second among Sun Belt Conference No. 1 singles leaders with nine victories. She has a 9-4 record overall.
Rishona Israel-Lewis is tied for second among No. 2 players with eight victories after winning both of her singles matches last week against Louisiana and ULM. She has an 8-4 record in singles play.
Georgia State (6-9) enters Saturday with a three-match winning streak after downing Georgia Southern, Arkansas State and UAB at the Clarkston Courts. Eva Chivu, Damira Muminovic, and Daniela Ramirez had 3-0 records in singles play, while Lara Vovk was 2-0 last week.
Georgia Southern (10-8) also enters this weekend with a three-match winning streak after shutting out Arkansas State, Coastal Georgia and Savannah State 7-0 on Mar. 24 and Mar. 27.
The Eagles are led by Luisa Hrda, who has a 12-2 record in No. 4, 5, and 6 singles matches. Hrda enters Saturday's match against UTA having won eight straight singles matches (one No. 4, four No. 5 and three No. 6).
Arianne DeWinter, Paula Boixader, Mila Hartig, Elizabeth Goines, and Charlet Van Dieme have won three consecutive singles matches for the Eagles.
