Johnson, Denomme receive Sun Belt weekly awards

NEW ORLEANS – Texas State swept the Sun Belt Conference Player of the Week awards on the men's side with seniors Kyle Denomme and T'Mond Johnson being named the track and field athletes of the week, respectively. The duo combined for three conference leading marks at the Roadrunner Invitational this past weekend.

At the first meet of the 2019 outdoor season for the Bobcats, Johnson hurled the discus 53.77 meters (176-5) and recorded a 19.43-meter (69-3) throw in the shot put.  Both marks rank No. 1 on the conference leaderboard, while his shot put mark sits at No. 3 in the country.

Denomme ran a conference-leading and personal best 1:52.31 in the men's 800-meter run at the Roadrunner Invitational last weekend for a third-place finish. His time ranks No. 21 in the 2019 NCAA Division I West Region.

The Bobcats are currently in action at the Texas Relays in Austin, Texas, and will be hosting the Bobcat Invitational March 28-30 in San Marcos, Texas.
