MONROE, La. – The Texas State softball team (14-15, 4-4 Sun Belt) distanced themselves from the ULM Warhawks (4-25, 1-7 Sun Belt) behind a five-run seventh inning on Saturday afternoon at the ULM Softball Complex. The Bobcats earned an 8-2 decision.
KEY MOMENTS
- For the second-straight game against the Warhawks, Texas State wasted no time getting on the scoreboard. The Bobcats scored two runs on three hits in the opening frame. Junior
Hailey MacKay drove in the first run of the game on an RBI single through the left side of the infield.
- ULM quickly found the equalizer as senior infielder Bailey Thibodeaux hit a two-out, two-run home run in the bottom of the first inning.

Tara Oltmann put the Bobcats back ahead in the top of the third inning with a sacrifice fly to shallow center field. Junior outfielder
Christiana McDowell was able to score easily from third.
- Junior catcher
Haleigh Davis nearly cashed in on her third home run of the season in the top of the seventh inning. She launched the ball off the left field wall on an RBI double.
- Sophomore infielder
ArieAnn Bell put the game to rest with a two-run home run in the top of the seventh. The hit capped off a five-run inning that sank the Warhawks.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- McDowell secured her 12th multi-hit game of the season with a 3-for-4 effort at the plate which included one double. She scored two runs for the Bobcats.
- Junior infielder
Bailee Carter and senior outfielder
Kennedy Cline each registered a pair of hits. Carter scored two runs, while Cline drew one walk.
- Junior pitcher
Dalilah Barrera (6-3) picked up the victory for the Bobcats. She tossed 5.2 innings in the circle and allowed two earned runs. She yielded four hits and struck out four batters.
NOTABLES
- Barrera leads the Bobcats with 67 strikeouts this season. She has k-ed multiple batters in 13 of her 16 appearances this season.
- Freshman designated player
Cassie Valdez recorded her first career hit on a flair over the left side of the infield in the top of the fourth inning.
- The seventh-inning home run from Bell was her sixth of the season. She leads the team and ranks in the top-five of the Sun Belt.
ON DECK
- The Bobcats will look for the three-game sweep over ULM on March 24. First pitch is scheduled for noon at ULM Softball Complex.
