SAN MARCOS, Texas – Senior
Sasikarn Somboonsup shot a third round low 5-under 67 to win the Jim West Challenge individual title with a 54-hole total of 10-under 206. The Texas State women's golf team ended in a tie for fourth with No. 44 Texas A&M at 14-under par 850 after firing a 289 (+1) in the final round at the Kissing Tree Golf Club.
The 54-hole total and versus par for the Bobcats matches the program records that were set Mar. 22-24, 2019 at the Mountain View Collegiate in Tucson, Arizona. Overall, TXST set or tied five program records during the tournament.
No. 15 Ole Miss won the team title at 28-under par 836. No. 40 Texas Tech came in second 10 strokes back followed by No. 46 Miami at 16-under 848 to round out the top three.

ROUND ONE QUICK HITS

Geraldine Wong paced the Bobcats with a 5-under par 67. She carded back-to-back birdies on holes 4 and 5, 13 and 14, and 17 and 18 before ending her rounding with a bogey.

Sean Yi Yip recorded five birdies her first time through the course. She posted back-to-back birdies on the seventh and eighth holes. The senior carded three straight birdies from holes 14-16 to finish the round with a 4-under 68.

Sasikarn Somboonsup opened her day with four birdies through the first six holes. The final 12 holes saw her shoot +1 to end the morning round at 3-under par 69.
- Both
Alejandra Lobelo and
Noramol Nuchsila posted 1-over par 73s. Lobelo recorded an eagle on her second hole, the par 5, 486-yard fifth hole. She found trouble on the back nine, shooting +5 through the first six holes before rebounding with three birdies over the final five. Nuchsila carded four birdies in her round with back-to-backs on No. 4 & 5.
- Competing as individuals,
Caitlyn Lindell and
Rebecca Reed finished at 3-over 75 and 4-over 76, respectively. Both posted three birdies apiece with two each on the back nine.
ROUND TWO QUICK HITS
- Nuchsila and Somboonsup paced TXST with a 2-under 70. Nuchsila posted three birdies and eagled the par 5 fifth hole. Somboonsup also posted consecutive birdies on the final two holes of the back nine while also shooting under par on the first and third holes.
- Wong fired a 1-under 71 with five birdies, three of which came on the back nine. She carded back-to-back birdies on the 17th and 18th holes.
- Yip recorded five birdies with three coming between holes 14-18. Finished with a one-over 73.
- Lobelo shot an 8-over 80 but did record an eagle on the par 5, 493-yard third hole.
- Lindell carded three birdies in her round of 77 (+5).
- Reed and just one birdie on her way to a 78 (+6).
ROUND THREE QUICK HITS
- Somboonsup recorded four birdies and eagled the par 5, 468-yard 14th hole on her way to a 67. Her lone blemish on her scorecard was a bogey on the 11th hole. She was one of only three players to shoot below 70 over the final 18 holes. It is her fifth career individual title and first since the UTRGV Invitational that took place Mar. 5-6, 2018.
- Lobelo carded an even par 72 her final time through the course. Of her four birdies, three of them came on the front nine.
- Nuchsila, Wong and Yip all posted a 3-over par 75 in the final round. Wong paced the trio with three birdies while both Nuchsila and Yip had two apiece with all on the back nine.
- Lindell also carded a 75 with birdies on holes 9 and 18.
- Reed concluded her time on the course with two birdies over her final three holes to finish with a 6-over par 78.
