Box Score Thibodaux, La. - The Texas State women's tennis team won its second straight match and improved its record to 2-0 with a 6-1 victory over the Nicholls Colonels at the Colonel Tennis Complex on Saturday afternoon.
 
The Bobcats began the day capturing the doubles point with victories on courts 2 and 3. First, sophomores Andrea Fuchs and Sofia Murcia-Rodriguez defeated Lingfeng Gu and Anna Kuzevanova by a score of 6-1 in the No. 3 match. Then, Rishona Israel-Lewis and Josefina Cassara teamed up to beat Marina Vigil and Antonia Roessli by a score of 6-2 in the No. 2 match.
 
In singles action, Ana Perez defeated Stephanie Barrett in straight sets by a score of 6-2, 6-1 in the top-seeded match. Julia Navajo-Melendez won her No. 3 match in straight sets with a 6-2, 6-1 win over Maria Vigil. Then, Fuchs clinched the victory for the Bobcats with a 6-2, 6-2 victory over Kuzevanova in the No. 6 match.
 
In other matches, Israel-Lewis beat Gu in straight sets with a 6-4, 6-1 triumph on the No. 2 court. Joy Chia Ming Ming also won in straight sets in the No. 5 match with a 7-5, 6-4 triumph over Daphne Haverkamp.
 
The final match of the day was decided by a three-set tie breaker on the No. 4 court. In that match, Cassara fell 7-5, 4-6, 7-6 (11-9) against Roessli.
 
The Bobcats conclude their season-opening road trip at Xavier-New Orleans on Sunday.
