Women’s Tennis Team Returns Home To Close Out Regular Season

SAN MARCOS, Texas – The Texas State women's tennis team closes out its regular season with a pair of Sun Belt Conference matches against ULM and UTA on April 6 and 8 at the Bobcat Tennis Complex. Texas State is hosting a Sun Belt POD that begins with Arkansas State facing Louisiana at 10 a.m. on April 6. The Bobcats are scheduled to host ULM beginning at 1 p.m. Friday.
 
There are also a pair of neutral site matches on Saturday when ULM meets Arkansas State at 10 a.m. and Louisiana plays UTA beginning at 1 p.m. The Bobcats close out their regular season schedule against UTA at 10 a.m. on Sunday.
 
LOOKING AT THE BOBCATS
Texas State enters Friday's match against ULM with a 4-11 overall record after posting 4-4 record in its last eight matches. The Bobcats dropped a 4-2 decision against Marquette on March 29. Texas State owns a 1-1 record against Sun Belt teams, after splitting a pair of matches against Arkansas State and Louisiana on March 23-24 in Monroe, La.
 
Rishona Israel Lewis leads Texas State with a 4-4 record in No. 2 singles matches this season while Alex Jones is 4-9 in No. 4 matches this year. Ana Perez, Andrea Fuchs and Joy Chia Ming Ming have three victories. Perez  is 3-7 in No. 1 singles matches, Fuchs has a 3-4 mark in No. 6 matches and Chia Ming Ming owns a 3-8 slate in No. 5 contests.
 
Perez and Julia Navajo-Melendez have combined for a 10-7 overall record in doubles matches and are 7-5 in dual matches. Perez and Navajo-Melendez are 6-2 in No. 2 matches this spring.
 
Chia Ming Ming and Sofia Murcia-Rodriguez are 6-6 in No. 3 doubles matches, while Jones and Israel-Lewis have posted three wins overall and two victories in top-seeded matches.
 
SCOUTING ULM
ULM enters Friday's match with a 7-7 overall record and are 2-2 mark in Sun Belt contests. The Warhawks are led by Stefana Andrei with an 8-0 record in singles matches this spring.
 
SCOUTING UTA
UTA enters Saturday's match against Louisiana with an 8-7 overall record and a 3-1 mark against Sun Belt Conference teams. Freshman Lucia Natal leads UTA with a 15-4 record in singles matches, including a 9-1 mark in No. 5 dual matches this spring. Augustina Serio has an 8-8 overall mark and has a 7-4 mark in top-seeded contests.
 
HONORING LONE SENIOR
Senior Alex Jones will play in her final two matches at the Bobcat Tennis Complex against ULM and UTA. Texas State will honor Jones prior to the UTA match on Sunday morning. Jones is a two-year letterwinner after transferring to Texas State from Long Beach State.
 
WHAT'S NEXT
Following the UTA match, Texas State will travel to Peachtree City, Ga. on April 19-22 for the Sun Belt Conference Championship at the Peachtree City Tennis Center.
