Women’s Tennis Hosts Marquette

SAN MARCOS, Texas – The Texas State women's tennis team will look to win their second straight home match when the Bobcats play Marquette at Bobcat Tennis Complex on Thursday afternoon. The match is schedule to begin at 2 p.m.

Texas State enters the contest looking for its fifth win in the last eight matches and improve its overall record to 5-10 when the Bobcats face Marquette.

The Bobcats recorded their first win of the season with a 7-0 victory over Prairie View A&M to even their record in home matches to 1-1 on March 3. Texas State split a pair of matches in San Antonio with a 4-0 loss at UTSA and a 4-3 victory over Incarnate Word on March 4. The Bobcats also split a pair of contests in California with a 6-1 loss at San Diego on March 15 and 4-3 victory at CSUN a day later.

Texas State opened Sun Belt Conference play splitting a pair of matches in Monroe, La. The Bobcats had a 4-1 victory against Arkansas State and dropped a 4-1 decision against Louisiana.

Marquette enters Thursday's match with a 6-7 record this season after defeating Butler, 7-0, last Sunday in Milwaukee.

The win over Butler marked the fourth win in the last seven matches for Marquette, which posted 7-0 victories over Milwaukee on Mar. 3, Northern Illinois on Mar. 2 and South Dakota State on Feb. 23.

The Golden Eagles three losses came at Iowa (7-0), and vs. Columbia (6-1) and Florida International (4-1) in Miami in February.

Following the Marquette match, Texas State will host a three-day Sun Belt Pod on April 6-8 at the Bobcat Tennis Center. The Bobcats compete against ULM at 1 p.m. April 6 and UTA 10 a.m. April 8. The other matches include Arkansas State playing against Louisiana at 10 a.m. Friday and against ULM at 10 a.m. Saturday. Louisiana also faces UTA at 1 p.m. Saturday.
