SAN MARCOS, Texas – The Texas State women's tennis team will play three dual matches this weekend when the Bobcats host Prairie View A&M on Saturday morning and travel to San Antonio for matches against UTSA and Incarnate Word on Sunday.
Texas State hosts the Panthers beginning at 10 a.m. on Saturday at the Bobcat Tennis Complex. The Bobcats travel to UTSA for a match beginning at 11 a.m. on Sunday at the UTSA Tennis Center. Texas State also plays at UIW at the Mabry Tennis Center beginning at 4 p.m.
The Bobcats enter the Prairie View A&M match looking to win their first dual match of the spring after dropping a 4-0 decision at No. 39-ranked Rice on Feb. 21. Texas State also opened the season at No. 12 Texas and played matches at Texas A&M, TCU, Louisiana Tech, and Northwestern State, along with Eastern Michigan.
Alex Jones and
Joy Chia Ming Ming won a pair of singles matches at Northwestern State and Texas State won two of the three doubles matches to capture to doubles point against LA Tech.
Ana Perez and
Julia Navajo-Melendez won the top doubles match and
Rishona Israel-Lewis and
Alex Jones won the No. 2 match against the Lady Techsters.
Prairie View A&M has a 2-11 record this season after the Panthers split a pair of conference matches with a 4-3 win against Alcorn State and 4-2 loss against Alabama State in Baton Rouge, La., on Feb. 24-25. Prairie View also registered a 5-2 victory over Seminole State in Dallas on Feb. 17.
UTSA has a 3-6 record this season after dropping its last four matches against Northwestern State, McNeese State, Tulane and UTRGV. The Roadrunners recorded their last win against Incarnate Word on Feb. 4.
Incarnate Word is also looking for its first win of the season and enters Saturday afternoon's match against Prairie View A&M with a 0-6 record.
