RUSTON, La. – The Texas State women's tennis team is traveling to the state of Louisiana to play a pair of non-conference dual matches on Sunday and Monday. The Bobcats begin the trip in Ruston, La., to play Louisiana Tech on Sunday beginning at 11 a.m.
Texas State concludes the road trip on Monday morning when the Bobcats travel to Natchitoches, La., for a non-conference match against Northwestern State beginning at 11 a.m. at the Jack Fisher Tennis Complex.
Texas State is looking for its first win of the season after dropping its first three decisions and having two other matches cancelled due to thundershowers.
The Bobcats opened the season with a 4-0 loss against No. 12-ranked Texas on Jan. 20 and dropped a 6-1 decision at Texas A&M on Jan. 26. After a match at Tarleton State was cancelled on Feb. 3, Texas State fell 4-0 at TCU on Feb. 4. Texas State's last match at Stephen F. Austin on Feb. 10 was also cancelled after their match at Sam Houston State was rescheduled for Feb. 25.
Louisiana Tech enters Sunday's match with a 1-3 record after suffering a 7-0 loss at McNeese State on Feb. 12 and a 5-2 setback at Sam Houston State on Feb. 9. The Lady Techsters posted a 4-3 victory at Louisiana on Feb. 4 after opening the season with a 5-2 loss at North Texas on Jan. 27.
Northwestern State has a 1-4 record overall after dropping a 6-1 decision at SMU on Feb. 12. The Lady Demons won a 6-1 decision at Southern Miss when Northwestern State won all six singles matches after dropping the doubles point.
Following the Northwestern State match, Texas State will play its first home match of the season against Eastern Michigan on Feb. 21 beginning at 10 a.m.
