Bobcats finish t-12th at the Betsy Rawls Invitational

AUSTIN, Texas – The Texas State's women's golf team concluded the Betsy Rawls Invitational in a tie with New Mexico for 12th place after posting a three-day score of 317+317+308=942 (+78) at the par-72 6,491-yard University of Texas Golf Course.

"There are some areas that we need to close the gap on where we are and where we want to be," head women's golf coach Lisa Strom said. "The next few days we will need to tighten up our wedge play and speed control. The best part of that is that it is under our control. We are not at full strength with our lineup and hopefully we can get firing on all cylinders soon. No doubt we have areas to improve and par-5 scoring will be a big priority."

Host Texas, the No. 6 team in the country according to the GolfStat rankings, completed the wire-to-wire victory after shooting 291+284+279=854 (-10) during the three-day event. No. 16 Kent State finished as the only other team under par for the weekend, 294+281+286=861 (-3).

A total of six players finished the tournament under par. After taking the lead in the second round, Hailee Cooper of Texas held on to the individual medalist position at 72+67+68=2017 (-9). Teammate Kaitlyn Papp finished four strokes behind Cooper for second place while Michaela Finn of Kent State ended six strokes behind the leader in third place. Kenzie Wright (-2) of Alabama, Agathe Laisne (-2) of Texas and Gurleen Kaur (-1) of Baylor rounded out the individuals to finish below par.
