COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Playing one of its toughest schedules this spring, the Texas State women's tennis team suffered its second straight loss when the Bobcats dropped all six singles matches at Texas A&M on Friday afternoon at the George P. Mitchell Tennis Center.
Texas State's most competitive showing was on the No. 6 court where
Sofia Murcia-Rodriguez fell 6-3, 6-3 against Iulia Ivascu.
The Bobcats began the day with
Alex Jones dropping the No. 4 match by a score of 6-0, 6-1 loss against Dorthea Faa-Hviding and
Ana Perez falling 6-1, 6-0 against Domencia Gonzalez at No. 1.
Then,
Julia Navajo-Melendez suffered a 6-1, 6-1 loss in the No. 2 match and Riley McQuaid clinched the victory for the Aggies when she beat
Joy Chia Ming Ming 6-1, 6-3 on the No. 5 court.
Rishona Israel-Lewis also suffered a 6-3, 6-0 loss in the No. 3 match as the Bobcats fall to 0-2 this season and Texas A&M improved to 3-0.
Texas State returns to action on Feb. 3-4 when the Bobcats travel to Tarleton State on Saturday and to No. 24 TCU on Sunday.
