COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Playing in the 49th annual Gene Miranda Falcon Invitational, the Texas State men's golf team finished in 13th place with a 15-over par 879 (295-296-288) that was contested on the Blue Course of the Eisenhower Golf Club.
Pacing the Bobcats for the 3-day, 54-hole tournament was sophomore
Logan Lockwood with a 1-over par 217. He shot back-to-back 71s over the final two rounds on the par 72 course. He also carded the only two eagles for the team on the par 5, 568-yard 11th hole during the first two rounds. Overall, he finished in a tie for 34th.
Both
Logan Davis and
Calvin Ross finished in a tie for 55th at 5-over, 221. In his first tournament as a Bobcat, Davis carded 11 birdies with six coming in Saturday's second round. Ross finished with 10 birdies as half came during his team low round of 70 (-2) on the opening 18 holes.
Also competing for TXST was
Hugo Esposito, who finished with a three-day total of 224, and
Xander Basson, who carded a 54-hole score of 234.
Winning the team title was Wyoming at 29-under par, 835. Colorado State claimed the runner-up position five strokes back. Rounding out the top three was Colorado at 21-under.
Claiming the individual crown was Wyoming's John Murdock at 14-under, five shots better than Colorado State's Max Oelfke. Tying for third at 8-under 208 was the Cowboys' Drew McCullough and Colorado's Yannik Paul.
After a month off, the Bobcats return to the course to compete in the Bayou City Collegiate Classic from Oct. 9-10 in Pearland, Texas.
