Women’s Tennis Closes Out Its ITA Texas Regional Appearance With Consolation Doubles Matches

FORT WORTH, Texas - The Texas State women's tennis team played a pair of consolation doubles matches with one team reaching the semifinals and another playing in the quarterfinals at the ITA Texas Regional Championships on Sunday, Oct. 15, at the Friedman Tennis Center.
 
Andrea Fuchs and Flavia Gutierrez-Balcazar advanced to the quarterfinals before falling to No. 6-seeded Lana Bush and Alex Valenstein of Texas Tech.
 
Ana Perez and Julia Navajo-Melendez won their quarterfinals match by the score of 8-1 over Houston's Laura Bernardos and Constandena Nicolaou  before dropping their semifinals match against on No. 5-seeded Bojana Markovic and Bianca Turati of Texas on Sunday.
 
The Bobcats return to action next Saturday, Oct. 21, when they host the Texas State Play Day Tournament at the Bobcat Tennis Complex. Texas State closes out its 2017 Fall schedule at the FIU Invitational on Oct. 27-29 in Miami, Fla.
