SAN MARCOS, Texas – Labor Day weekend sees the Texas State women's soccer team travel westward to take on New Mexico State and UTEP. The Bobcats will face the Aggies at 5 p.m. CDT Friday at the NMSU Soccer Athletic Complex and then take on the Miners on University Field on Sunday at 2 p.m. CDT.

Texas State goes into the weekend with a 2-1-1 record. NMSU is 0-4-0 while UTEP is undefeated at 2-0-2.

Last Time Out
The second weekend of the season was tough for Texas State offensively. The Bobcats took a combined 29 shots, placing 10 on goal, but were unable to find the back of the net in either contest.

Junior midfielder Kassi Hormuth led the team with six shot attempts. She currently leads Texas State with 18 shots while her 4.50 shots per game average is the highest in the Sun Belt Conference and ranks 45th nationally.

Both Rachel Grout and Hormuth came close to scoring during the first half of the 0-0 tie with Houston. Grout saw one of her attempts on goal hit off the left post and Hormuth had the ball bounce off the crossbar. The fifth largest crowd since 2008 of 785 fans came out for the contest against the Cougars.

Freshmen goalkeeper Kathryn Budde put together a solid game against Houston in her first collegiate start. In earning the shutout, the San Antonio, Texas native made a season-high six saves.

Scouting New Mexico State
New Mexico State's lone goal this season was off the foot of Holly Abedelkader on a penalty kick. Ashley Martin has appeared in all four games this season between the posts, starting the last three games. She enters Friday with 22 saves, a .733 save percentage and a 2.52 GAA.

The Aggies are coached by Freddy Delgado, who is in her third season at the helm. He has compiled a 10-36-0 in Las Cruces, New Mexico. This year's team was picked to finish sixth in the eight-team Western Athletic Conference by the league's head coaches.

All three of the previous meetings between NMSU and Texas State has seen the Bobcats come out victorious. Last year, Texas State won 2-0 at home after two late goals from Clarissa Leon and Grout.

Friday will be the second ever meeting in Las Cruces. The only previous contest took place on Aug. 24, 2014 with Hormuth slotting home the game-winning goal in the 59th minute of a 2-1 victory.

UTEP leads the all-time series 10-2-1 and has won three of the last four meetings. The lone exception was a 0-0 tie on Aug. 22, 2014, the last time the teams met in El Paso, Texas. The first victory for the Bobcats came on Aug. 27, 2004 by the score of 3-2 in double overtime on the Miners' home turf.
