SPRING, Texas -- The Texas State softball team split a pair of fall season games Saturday afternoon with a 4-0 victory over Houston and a 4-3 loss to West Texas A&M.

Randi Rupp threw a complete game in the win against Houston, notching 10 strikeouts while only surrendering a pair of hits. Moreover, the two-time All-Sun Belt Conference selection was perfect through five innings before Houston got a runner on base in the sixth.

Christiana McDowell and
Ariel Ortiz led the Bobcats at the plate against Houston. McDowell finished 1-2 with a triple, a RBI and two runs scored, while Ortiz was 2-3 with three RBI and swiped two bags.

Paige Williams started in the circle against West Texas A&M. She scattered six hits, while striking out six in her five frames of work.
Quincy Charleston came on in relief and was charged with the loss after giving up three walks, five hits and the winning run in her 1.2 innings.

Kimberlin Naivar and McDowell each went 2-4 with a run scored against the Buffs. Kennedy Cline also made the most of her time in the batter's box, finishing 2-3 with a walk.
Texas State continues its fall ball schedule Saturday, Oct. 15 as Texas A&M International and Howard College come to Bobcat Softball Stadium for games at 10 a.m. and 3 p.m., respectively.
