SAN MARCOS, Texas – The Texas State softball program completed its third and fourth games of the Fall 2016 semester Saturday, picking up wins over Howard College and Texas A&M International Saturday at the Bobcat Softball Stadium.

The Bobcats claimed an 11-0 decision over Howard College in the first game of the day as
Paige Williams and
Randi Rupp combined for the shutout. Williams went 5.0 innings, allowing four hits to go with five strikeouts. Rupp surrendered one hit and struck out two in her 2.0 innings of work.

The quartet of Kimber Naivar, Jaclyn Molenar,
Ariel Ortiz and Corrine Liscano paced the Bobcats at the plate against the Hawks. Naivar was 2-of-3 with a double and two runs scored. Molenar recorded a hit in each of her two at-bats. Ortiz and Liscano each had two hits and drove in a pair of runs.

Texas State won the day's second game, 7-2, against Texas A&M International behind a solid outing from
Quincy Charleston in the circle. Charleston was charged with a pair of earned runs, but also struck out four and scattered five hits in her 4.1 innings. Rupp closed the game, pitching 2.2 innings in relief. Five of her eight outs came via strikeout.

Naivar went 2-of-2 with a walk and two runs scored against the Dustdevils. Ortiz went 2-of-3 at the plate with a two-run home run and three RBI.
Jaelyn Young picked up and RBI single and Bailee Carter came through with a pinch-hit single.

The Bobcats continue their Fall 2016 season Thurs., Oct. 20, hosting Temple College at 6 p.m. Texas State will then host the NPF's USSSA Florida Pride on Thurs., Oct. 27 at 6:30 p.m. Admission to all Fall game is FREE.
