Box Score CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – Back-to-back goals in a matter of 38 seconds by junior
Lauren Prater sealed the deal for the Texas State soccer team as it defeated Texas A&M-Corpus Christi by a score of 3-1 Friday evening. The Bobcats improve back to .500 at 2-2 with the victory against the Southland Conference foe.
The Bobcats scored all three of their goals in the second half of play, starting with the first in the 51
st minute by
Kira Zapalac. Zapalac scored her first goal of the season from a cross pass on the right side by
Landry Lowe.
Almost 25 minutes later in the 75
th minute, Prater began her run of goals to solidify the Bobcat lead. Her first goal of the game was assisted by
Kassi Hormuth and Lowe and her second by Hormuth. It marked the first time in her career that the junior had scored multiple goals in a game and her three goals now in 2015 marks a career-high for Prater.
The Islanders added one to the board after a corner kick in the 79th minute to cut into the Bobcat lead.
Texas State finished the contest outshooting the Islanders 20-2 and in all the Bobcats had 10 corner kicks compared to just three by TAMUCC. In the first half alone, the Bobcats recorded seven shots on goal and had two shots that ricocheted off the left goal post.
Hormuth led the Bobcats with four shots while
Lynsey Curry, Prater, and Zapalac recorded three.
