BYE WEEK NO. 1 - WEDNESDAY UPDATE

Enthusiasm

Yesterday's motto was 'It's About Us'. Today's motto doesn't different too far from that statement. Solid practice days like the Bobcats have had this week are going to be keys to focusing on what Texas State needs to work on moving forward with UL Lafayette on the horizon.

"We've had two good days," stated head coach Dennis Franchione. "The guys have had great attitude, great morale. They've worked hard, they want to get better, they want to do better and that's a big part of the battle when they come out with that kind of attitude."

BYE WEEK NO. 1 - TUESDAY UPDATE

It's About Us

Head coach Dennis Franchione has made the decision to move Brad Franchione, former linebackers and special team's coordinator at Texas State since 2011, to the interim defensive coordinator position.

Brad, the son of the Bobcat's head coach, came to Texas State after serving as the head coach at Blinn College from 2006-10, where he compiled a 54-13 record and guided the Buccaneers to two National Junior College Athletic Association national championships and three NJCAA Top 10 finishes.

"I felt like he's the guy most ready to orchestrate the things that we want to do and the subtle changes that we'll make," stated head coach Dennis Franchione. "I think we have a good rapport and I think he and I are on the same page on some of the things that need to be changed and fixed. I think the players had a great day of practice today and that was good. Fortunately for us right now we have an open week, a game, and another open week. We really caught a break in that regard in that two out of our three weeks we can work on us a lot more than if we had games. This week isn't about anybody else but us."

Move On And No Excuses
Now that Brad Franchione has moved into the role of interim defensive coordinator, questions of course arise as to how he is going to approach the situation at hand. With a pair of bye weeks surrounding the first conference game of the season, Coach Brad Franchione and the Bobcats have to be careful with what they change up and just move on with no excuses.

"You have to be careful about how much you change. I believe that our focus is going to be no excuses. more energy, at practice, on game day, and have great eyes and great fundamentals. As coaches we're going to evaluate that every day and we're going to put the guys in that we trust to do those things right. Have great eyes, and great fundamentals because if you can do those two things I believe you have a chance to be successful on defense and right now that's what we're trying to do is give them a chance to be successful." – interim defensive coordinator Brad Franchione

There's A Lot Of Football Left To Play
Now that we are quickly approaching the conference season, the Bobcats have a lot left in front of them to turn things around. Safety Damani Alexcee discusses the road ahead and the confidence that this team has moving forward.

"We feel good and we feel like we still know where we want to go. No matter what's happened in the past, no matter what's happened the past four games, we know where we still want to go. We're looking forward to going a step in direction." – safety Damani Alexcee
