SAN MARCOS, Texas – The Texas State soccer team returns to the Bobcat Soccer Complex to begin a four-match homestand this weekend, starting with New Mexico State Friday evening and Lamar Sunday afternoon. In addition to the final two non-conference matches of the season, the Bobcats will be celebrating Alumni Weekend on Friday and Sunday.
The Bobcats return to San Marcos after posting a 4-0 shutout against Stephen F. Austin on the road. The win against the Ladyjacks snapped their nine-match home winning streak, the fifth longest streak of its kind in the nation. The last Bobcat victory against the Ladyjacks was back in 2011 in the Southland Conference Championship match.
Last season, Texas State put up a pair of victories over New Mexico State and Lamar, both on the road. Overall, the Bobcats have never been defeated by either squad and look to extend their three-match winning streak.
A Look At The Competition – New Mexico StateNew Mexico State enters the weekend with a 1-6-0 overall record with its lone victory coming against Lamar on Sept. 6.
Offensively, the Aggies are led by Aileen Galicia who has scored a team-high four goals. She leads the team in points with nine and is tied for the team lead in shots with 15. So far this season she has 12 shots on goal.
Goalkeeper minutes this fall for the Aggies have been relatively balanced with Rian Nials recorded 335 minutes in goal and Ashley Martin tallying 315 minutes in the net. The two have combined for 45 saves and a 0.692 save percentage. In all, the Aggies have allowed 20 goals for their opponents this season.
A Look At The Competition – LamarAfter hosting Nicholls State Friday evening, the Lamar Cardinals will travel to San Marcos. The Cardinals enter the weekend with a 4-4-0 overall record including a victory against New Mexico State.
With 30 goals scored so far this season, Lamar currently leads the nation in that category. The 30 goals scored has already surpassed last season's total of 20. Alexus Aviles leads the team with seven goals and is followed by Jordan Mulnix with six. The two combined for 35 of the team's 109 shots taken so far this season.
Lauren Lovejoy has seen the majority of the minutes in the net with 652:39 this season. She has recorded 47 saves and owns a .734 save percentage. The Cardinals have recorded three shutouts this season against Texas Southern, LSU-Alexandria, and Alcorn State.
