SAN ANTOINO, Texas – In the final tune-up before the start of the regular season, the Texas State soccer team defeated UTSA by a score of 1-0 on Sunday evening. The Bobcats were led by senior Lynsey Curry as she scored the lone goal of the contest in the 16^th minute of play.


 
Senior goalkeeper Caitlynn Rinehart posted two saves in 75 minutes of action for the Bobcats and sophomore goalie Maddi Nordstrom completed the team shutout in 15 minutes of work for Texas State.
 
Texas State controlled possession early in the match while hardly allowing UTSA many chances at putting an offensive set together in the first half. Late in the second half, however, the Roadrunners applied pressure to the Bobcat defense as they launched two of their six shots in the final six minutes of play.
 
The Bobcats outshot the Roadrunners, 9-6, and Curry owned all of the Bobcat shots on goal with three. All members of head coach Kat Conner's squad saw action in the exhibition match.
 
The Bobcats will now finish final preparations before the start of the regular season, slated for Friday evening against Houston. Kick-off against the Cougars is scheduled for 7 p.m. in Houston, Texas. Texas State will continue its Houston road trip Sunday afternoon for a contest against Houston Baptist.
