SAN MARCOS, Texas – The Texas State women's tennis team plays its two home matches of the season and begins a four-match home stand when the Bobcats host Incarnate Word and South Alabama on Saturday and Sunday morning at the Bobcat Tennis Complex. Texas State will host Incarnate Word on Saturday at 10 a.m. The Bobcats will host South Alabama on Sunday beginning at 11 a.m.
 
The Bobcats are looking to win their first victory of the season after dropping a pair of matches at New Mexico State and Stephen F. Austin by a score of 5-2 in each match. Texas State won a pair of singles matches at New Mexico State after having their two previous matches against UTEP and Buffalo canceled due to rain in El Paso.
 
Seniors Shannon Beckett and Monica Pieratt have opened the season with 2-0 record for the Bobcats, while Katy Collins owns a 2-0 singles record as Texas State's No. 6 player this season. Sophomore Ana Laura Gutierrez has a 1-1 mark as Texas State's No. 2 singles player. Pieratt serves as the No. 1 singles player for the Bobcats. The other two players for Texas State are sophomores Pippa Carr and Eva Dench.
 
Rachel Sadiq headlines Incarnate Word's lineup after posting a 2-5 record as the No. 1 singles player for the Cardinal. Sadiq also teams with Maria Batchinsky as UIW's No. 1 doubles tandem.
 
Incarnate Word enters the match with a 1-5 record after splitting a pair of matches on Feb. 7, when the Cardinals suffered a 6-0 loss against Air Force and defeated Trinity 5-2. UIW opened the season with losses at No. 27 Tulsa, UT Arlington, UTSA and No. 6 Baylor before playing their first two home matches of the season.
 
South Alabama enters this weekend with a 1-0 record after posting a 7-0 win over Jacksonville State on Jan. 30. The Jaguars will play at UTSA on Friday afternoon before playing Incarnate Word on Saturday in San Marcos at 3:00 p.m. and Texas State on Sunday.
 
Following Sunday's match against South Alabama, the Bobcats will conclude their four-match home stand when they host UT-Pan American on Friday, Feb. 20, at 9:30 a.m. and Northwestern State on Saturday, Feb. 21, at 11 a.m.
