Box Score SAN MARCOS, Texas – The Texas State soccer team suffered its first defeat of the season on a rainy Friday night in San Marcos as it fell to the TCU Horned Frogs by a score of 1-0. The Bobcats fall to 4-1-1 after the loss.
In the 11
th minute of the contest, the Horned Frogs were presented with a penalty kick opportunity after a foul in the box. Michelle Prokof connected with the back of the net, making the shot in the left side of the goal for her third goal of the season.
After TCU appeared to maintain possession prior to the penalty kick, Texas State picked up intensity through the end of the first half. The Bobcats finished the half just one shot shy of TCU's total of six.
The remainder of the contest was a hard fought battle between the squads, with both teams having a couple of scoring opportunities late in the game.
Caitlynn Rinehart recorded five saves in goal for the Bobcats and
Lynsey Curry and
Ali Myers each led the offensive attack with three shots a piece.
