SAN MARCOS, Texas –
The Texas State soccer team posted its third shutout of the season in a 3-0 victory against Northwestern State on Sunday afternoon. The Bobcats improve to 3-0-1, marking the best start in school history.
It didn't take long for the Bobcats aggressive attack to take effect as Tori Hale found the back of the net in the first minute of play, giving Texas State an early lead. Lynsey Curry was credited with the assist as she headed the ball to Hale in the right side of the box.
Hale now leads the team with three goals this season.

Just under nine minutes later, the Bobcat offense connected again. This time, Curry recorded her first goal of the season by dribbling through defenders in front of the net after a throw-in by senior Jourdan Brown.

With 29 minutes remaining on the clock, an offsides call against the Bobcats eliminated a goal that would have put the home squad up 3-0 before the half.

Texas State finished the first half with 15 shots compared to just four by the Lady Demons.

Out of the intermission, the Northwestern State defense slowed down the Bobcats slightly, only allowing seven shots throughout the entire half.

The Lady Demon defense, however, did not completely stop the 'Cats as freshman Rachel Grout managed to dribble past the defenders to then float the ball over the Northwestern State goalkeepers head for her first goal of the season. Her goal that gave the Bobcats a 3-0 advantage was the final goal scored in the contest. Curry was credited with her second assist of the game after Grout's goal.

The Bobcats finished with 22 total shots compared to just eight by the Lady Demons. Caitlynn Rinehart put in all 90 minutes in goal for Texas State and Curry finished the day with four points (one goal, two assists).

Texas State will now hit the road for a pair of games against former Southland Conference foe Lamar and Southwestern Athletic Conference member Texas Southern. The Bobcats will take on the Cardinals Friday evening at 7 p.m. in Beaumont, Texas.
