SAN MARCOS, Texas – Back-to-back home runs in the bottom of the second inning ignited the Texas State softball team to a weekend sweep and a Senior Day victory as it defeated UT Arlington by a score of 9-1 on Sunday afternoon. Kortney Koroll moved up to fifth all-time for home runs in a season after hitting her ninth home run and senior Coralee Ramirez hit her first and second home runs of the season in the victory.

After a scoreless first, Koroll and Ramirez recorded back-to-back home runs to give Texas State an early 2-0 lead over the visiting Mavericks. That was the third time this season that the Bobcats have recorded home runs in back-to-back at bats this season.

UT Arlington got a run back in the top of the third, scoring with the bases loaded after a hit to left field.

The Bobcats answered with another run in the bottom of the fourth as Delia Saucedo and Jordan Masek put together a single and a double to increase the Bobcat lead to two. The Bobcats ultimately got the bases loaded, all with two outs, but struggled to score anymore in that half inning.

Texas State continued to score more runs in the fifth and the sixth innings, highlighted in the sixth inning by Ramirez's second home run of the day, a three-run shot over the left field fence. Ramirez's home run in the sixth was just the start of more hits to come as Kendall Wiley and Katie Doerre recorded a pair of doubles to score the final run needed to defeat the visiting Mavs by the run-rule.

Ramirez finished the day going 3-for-4 with three runs and four RBI while Wiley, Koroll, and Saucedo all recorded two hits apiece. The Bobcats concluded the contest with 12 hits while allowing just three.

Senior pitcher Rayn House earned her 22nd win and the team's 26th victory after putting in six innings of work with six strikeouts. Texas State finishes the regular season with a 26-29 overall record and 9-12 mark in the Sun Belt Conference.

With the sweep this weekend, Texas State has earned the No. 5 seed in the upcoming Sun Belt Conference Tournament. The Bobcats will turn around and take on No. 8 seed UT Arlington on Wednesday afternoon at 12:30 p.m. in Lafayette, La. Live stats, live audio, and live video will be made available at txstatebobcats.com.

The lower four seeds in the eight-team tournament will play each other in the first round of games with the winners moving on to play the No. 3 and No. 4 seeds in a second game on Wednesday. The final four teams, which include the two winners from the first two rounds along with the No. 1 and No. 2 seed who earned the double bye, will play in a double elimination format beginning on Thursday.
