Box Score

MOBILE, Ala. – Starting pitcher
Williams10
, who went 3-for-3 with a home run, but his most important at-bat may have been a sixth-inning walk. O'Neal went down in the count, 0-2, but worked his way back to draw a walk. For the tournament, O'Neal is 7-for-10 (.700) with with four walks.

After O'Neal's walk in the sixth, Tanner Hill knocked his fourth home run of the season to put Texas State up 2-1.

"We needed a spark and certainly got it from Tanner Hill, who was in the lineup to do just that," said Harrington. "I was proud of him for getting us started."

The Bobcats added solo homers from Cory Geisler in the seventh and O'Neal in the eighth to put the game out of reach. Hunter Lemke came into the game in the ninth for his 11th save of the season.

With Texas State's three home runs Friday and Garrett Mattlage's roundtripper on Thursday, the Bobcats have four of the six home runs hit in the Sun Belt Conference Baseball Championship Tournament to this point.

The Warhawks scored early, knocking one across in the top of the first. With two quick outs to start the game, ULM's Dalton Herrington knocked a double to deep right centerfield, and Ross Moore brought him in with a single to shallow centerfield for the early 1-0 lead. After that, Williams settled in and only allowed one ULM baserunner to get to third base before he sat down in the ninth.

After trailing 1-0 from the first inning, the Bobcats almost tied it in the fifth. Matt Smith reached on an error, and then Geisler sacrifice bunted him to second base. Smith took third on a wild pitch with just one out. Cody Lovejoy looked to have made the hit to bring Smith home, putting one into the deep left corner, but it landed just foul. Unfortunately for Texas State, a strikeout, walk and fly out were not enough to bring Smith home.

But it turned out the Bobcats wouldn't need the run in the fifth inning as Hill hit his two-run shot in the sixth and Geisler and O'Neal followed with theirs in the seventh and eighth innings. For both O'Neal and Geisler, their Friday homers were their second of the season. It was also the second of Geisler's career.

Texas State will be back in action at 9 a.m. against UL Lafayette. With a win, the Bobcats will face ULL again at 4 p.m. A loss will end Texas State's season. Dylan Bein will be on the mound in the 9 a.m. game for Texas State facing ULL's Cody Boutte.
