Lucas Humpal struck seven batters out in 5.1 innings of work, walked two, gave up just one hit and did not allow an earned run. Dylan Bein and Hunter Lemke finished the game off and kept the one-hitter intact.

Unfortunately for the Bobcats, an error in each of the fifth and sixth innings allowed the Ragin' Cajuns to prevail.

After two strikeouts in the fifth inning, ULL first baseman Chase Compton took a base on a hit by pitch. The next batter, the ninth batter in the lineup, reached on an error that pushed Compton all the way to third. Then the only two walks of the day for Humpal happened, allowing UL Lafayette the first score of the game.

In the sixth, ULL second baseman Jace Conrad also reached on a hit by pitch. He was able to get to second on a throwing error on a fielder's choice. He went to third on a walk and a sacrifice bunt brought him across the plate for the 2-0 ULL lead.

Granger Studdard and Cory Geisler led the Bobcats at the plate, combining for half of the team's hits. Both knocked two base hits while four others tallied a hit on the day, but the Bobcats left 10 runners on base and only twice pushed runners all the way to third base.

Texas State will next face Texas A&M for a midweek road game at 6:35 p.m. Tuesday before returning home for back-to-back weekends to host Troy and UALR.
