ATLANTA – The Texas State softball team dropped a pair games on Saturday afternoon at the Bob Heck Field in Atlanta, falling in game one to Georgia State by a score of 8-1 and game two, 10-2.

The Bobcat offense was highlighted in game one by junior Kortney Koroll, who hit her team-leading seventh home run in the top of the second inning. Koroll's home run tied up the game at that point as Georgia State lead-off hitter Taylor Anderson hit her 10th home run in the bottom of the first.

Texas State recorded three more hits throughout the entirety of the contest and never got a base runner further than second.

Along with Koroll, Kelli Baker, Courtney Harris, and Katie Doerre all recorded hits in the first game. Rayn House was handed the loss in game one, falling to 18-14 overall on the year.

Baker started the Bobcats off solid in game two, hitting a double to the centerfield fence to give the Bobcats their first runner in scoring position since the fifth inning of the first game. Baker made her way to third base on a pass ball, but the Bobcats struggled to send the sophomore second baseman home.

In the bottom of the first inning, the Panthers rattled off six hits including three home runs to take an early 9-0 advantage on Texas State.

After recording just two hits in the first four innings, the Bobcats put together a pair of hits and a pair of walks to score two runs in the top of the fifth inning. Jordan Masek made her way to base first for the Bobcats, drawing the fifth Texas State walk of the contest. Baker then hit her second double of the game to right centerfield, sending Masek to third.

As the next batter to the plate, Harris extended her hitting streak to eight games after hitting a single down the left field line to score Masek and Baker for the first Bobcat runs of the game. The attempted rally fell short as the game ended due to the run rule as two Bobcats were stranded on the base paths.

Ashley Wright fell to 2-4 on the year after putting in four innings of work with three strikeouts. Texas State fell to 21-23 on the year and 4-7 in Sun Belt Conference play.

Baker finished the day hitting 3-for-5 for the Bobcats. Harris was the only other Bobcat to record a hit in each game.

The Bobcats will take the field tomorrow for game three of the three-game series at 11 a.m. CDT. Live stats can be found at txstatebobcats.com.
