The Series
Texas State will face its third consecutive opponent it has never faced before. Washington State enters the weekend at just 2-7, but one of the team's wins came against Cal State Fullerton, a team ranked as high as third in baseball polls. .

On the Cougars
Washington State's Friday pitcher is the best on staff. Senior lefty Jason Monda owns a 0.00 ERA but has yet to pick up a win so far this season. He has seven strikeouts and three walks, as does Saturday starter Joe Pistorese. Sunday starter Tanner Chleborad stands at 0-2 with 11 strikeouts to five walks on the year.

Despite an experienced, fairly impressive trio of starters, the Washington State staff has struggled in relief. The team as a whole has a 5.42 ERA and has allowed opponents a .328 batting average.

The most dangerous hitter on the squad is Nick Tanielu. He owns a .371 batting average with 13 hits and four RBI on the season. Three other Cougars are batting .321 or higher but nobody on the team has knocked a home run.

On the Bobcats
Texas State has won seven of its last eight games, but did have the team's seven-game winning streak busted in its last outing, a 3-2 loss to Valparaiso.

This weekend marks just the second road trip the team has made so far this season with the first being an extra-inning loss to highly-touted Rice.

Washington State faced UC Riverside earlier in the season and allowed 17 hits in a 12-8 loss. The Bobcats, however, dominated UC Riverside with a three-game sweep.

Senior catcher Tyler Pearson continues to lead the Bobcats at the plate while Texas State's starting trio of pitchers may be one of the toughest rotations in the country.

A Look Ahead
Upon returning to San Marcos, the Bobcats will host No. 17 Texas at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday before starting conference play with a weekend series against rival UT Arlington.
