Down 5-1 in the top of the seventh, Texas State's (19-17, 2-3 SBC) Kortney Koroll hit her team leading fifth home run of the season in an attempt to start a Bobcat rally. With two outs, Doerre made her way on base by way of an error by the second baseman, but the Ragin' Cajuns (24-6-1, 5-0 SBC) halted the Bobcats chances at a comeback with a strikeout to end the game.

The Ragin' Cajuns used 11 singles and one extra base hit to score all five of its runs in the first game. Texas State recorded just four hits, two of which were the solo shots in the second and seventh innings.

Koroll finished game one going 2-for-3 while Courtney Harris recorded the other Bobcat hit going 1-for-3. Rayn House was credited with the loss after putting in all six innings of work and striking out three.

After allowing a solo home run in the bottom of the first inning of game two, the Bobcats answered in the top of the second inning. The Ragin' Cajuns walked three Bobcats to load the bases before Jordan Masek was walked with two outs to bring in the first run, tying the game at one apiece. Texas State ultimately stranded three runners when Kelli Baker hit a fly ball to deep center for the third out of the inning.

Texas State held the Ragin' Cajuns scoreless in the second inning, but in the bottom of the third, UL Lafayette regained the lead with another home run. This time, it was a two-run shot to centerfield by Samantha Walsh, putting the Ragin' Cajuns up 3-1 against the Bobcats. Before the inning was over, the Ragin' Cajuns tacked on one more run in the bottom half of that inning, giving themselves a 4-1 lead.

The Bobcats moved a pair of runners around to second and third in the top of the fourth after a sac bunt, but failed to score as UL Lafayette worked its way out of the inning.

With one out in the top of the sixth inning, Doerre connected on another pitch, sending it over the left centerfield fence for her second home run of the day and fifth home run of the season. Doerre's home run was also the first recorded hit for the Bobcats.

Promptly after Doerre's homer, freshman Lexi Fryar recorded the second Bobcat hit of the game, but was unable to make her way around the bases.

Ashley Wright fell to 2-2 on the year after putting in four innings of work for the Bobcats. The Bobcats did hold Natalie Fernandez, who came into the game third in the NCAA in batting average, to 0-for-4 for the game with one strikeout, lowering her average below .500.
