After Lamar's Casey Cromwell hit a solo-shot to deep centerfield in the top of the fourth inning, the Bobcats promptly answered with four runs to take a 10-1 lead. In the fourth, Texas State recorded three hits, a hit by pitch and a walk.

With a nine-run lead going into the top of the fifth, Texas State allowed just one hit and no runs to hold on to the run-ruled victory.
