Women's Tennis Hosts Arkansas State On Tuesday

The Texas State women's tennis team returns to action on Tuesday afternoon when the Bobcats play host to Arkansas State in a Sun Belt Conference match at the Bobcat Tennis Complex. The match begins at 1:00 p.m.
 
Playing for the first time since Mar. 13,  Texas State enters the match looking to win their sixth match at the Bobcat Tennis Complex this season after opening this spring with a 5-0 record in home matches and a 7-6 overall mark. The Bobcats also are looking to win their third conference match and enter Tuesday's battle with a 2-1 record against league opponents.
 
Arkansas State enters the match with a 5-6 overall record after suffering a 4-0 loss against UAB on neutral courts in Hattiesburg, Miss.  The Red Wolves are 1-4 in road matches, but won its last match on the road with a 4-3 victory at Southern Miss. Arkansas State has split its two Sun Belt Conference matches with a 4-2 victory against UL Lafayette and a 4-1 loss at UL Monroe.
 
Looking at Texas State
After earning Sun Belt Conference Player of the Week honors last week, Jessica Kahts enters Tuesday's match with a 10-3 record in No. 1 singles matches after winning her last three matches. She also has combined with Ana Laura Gutierrez for  a 7-4 mark in No. 1 doubles matches this season.
 
Gutierrez is 8-4 in singles play with a 4-3 record in No. 3 matches and a 4-1 mark in No. 4 matches.  Eva Dench also owns an 8-4 singles mark, including a 7-2 record in No. 6 matches. Dench and Katy Collins have combined for a 7-3 record in No. 3 doubles matches.
 
Shannon Beckett and Monica Pieratt are 6-5 in No. 2 doubles matches this spring. Beckett also has won six singles matches with a 6-7 singles records.
 
Looking at Arkansas State
Tamara Slijepcevic is Arkansas State's top player and enters Tuesday with a 5-6 record in No. 1  matches this season. Biljana Miloshevska leads the Red Wolves with six victories and has a 6-2 record in No. 4 matches. Janie Nowland is 5-5 in No. 2 matches this season. Slijepcevic and Nowland also has combined record of 3-7 in No. 1 doubles matches. Julie Gauguery and Biljana Miloshevska own a 4-1 record in No. 2 doubles matches.
 
What's Next
Follow Tuesday's match, the Bobcats will travel to UTSA for a non-conference match at the UTSA Tennis Center on Saturday, Mar. 29 at noon.
