LUBBOCK, Texas – The Texas State softball team concluded its three-game series against Texas Tech on Saturday, falling in both games by scores of 7-2 and 5-3. Texas Tech defeated the Bobcats in game one on Friday, therefore taking all three games from the Bobcats.

In the top of the third inning of game one, Timishia North started things off for the Bobcats with a bunt that resulted in North getting to third base on a throwing error by the third baseman. Courtney Harris, the next batter up, then hit a fly ball out to right field, scoring North for the first run of the ball game.

With back-to-back singles to start the bottom of the third inning, the Red Raiders quickly found themselves in a position to tie up the ball game. The Bobcats shutout Texas Tech, however, striking out two out of the final three batters to work out of the bases loaded jam.

The Bobcats tacked another run in the top of the fourth, capitalizing on a pair of Red Raider errors.

A diving play by Courtney Harris in the bottom of the fourth inning at third base stopped the Red Raiders run at getting runners across home plate. With runners on first and second and one out, Harris's diving play kept the ball from going to the outfield and she promptly stepped on third for the force out, keeping the Red Raiders from a potential run.

Texas Tech got the runs back the next inning, scoring three in the bottom of the fifth inning to take over the lead. The Red Raiders used two hits including a triple along with walk and hit by pitch to gain the edge over Texas State.

The Red Raiders solidified their lead in the bottom of the sixth, adding four more to take a commanding 7-2 lead over Texas State.

Rayn House earned the loss in game one, falling to 15-9 overall this season.

Texas Tech got on the board first in game two after recording a triple and a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the first inning.

After four scoreless innings and just three base runners in that span, the Bobcat bats came alive in the top of the fifth inning as freshman Lexi Fryar hit a line drive triple with two outs to put Texas State on the board and tie the game up at one apiece.

Texas State proceeded to add two more in the top half of the fifth as North hit a hard hit line drive double to right center field, scoring Fryar and Kelli Baker.

The Red Raiders answered in the bottom of the fifth, scoring four runs after a grand slam by Gretchen Aucoin. The sophomore first baseman hit the ball to left center field for her second home run of the season.

Texas Tech proceeded to hold the Bobcats scoreless through the sixth and seventh innings to hold on for the victory.

Ashley Wright put in four and two/third innings worth of work, allowing just one run while striking out three. House was credited with her 10th loss of the season.

North led all Texas State batters on Saturday with a pair of hits. Fryar, Harris, Delia Saucedo, and Bianca Prado collected the other four Bobcat hits.
