SAN MARCOS, Texas – The Texas State softball team bounced back from a loss on Tuesday night with a 4-0 victory over Big 10 opponent in Iowa on Wednesday evening. This was the first victory in school history against the Hawkeyes in four appearances.

Texas State improved to 18-12 overall as the team heads to Lubbock, Texas for a non-conference three-game series against Texas Tech this weekend.
Â
In the top of the first inning, the Iowa offense came alive in the first at bat with a double to right center field. Texas State worked its way out of the inning, however, highlighted by a diving catch by senior shortstop
Jordan Masek.
Â
After a scoreless and hitless first inning where the Bobcats left three runners stranded, the bats came alive in the bottom of the second inning starting with a solo shot to left field by
Katie Doerre. The bats continued to rattle off hits in the bottom half of the second inning as Texas State recorded a double and two singles, scoring three more after Doerre's home run.
Â
Bats from both dugouts were silenced after the second inning until the Bobcats added another hit in the bottom of the fourth. A line drive double play to the first baseman ended Texas State's run at adding more to its four-run lead.
