Softball Drops Series Finale Against ULM, 3-2

SAN MARCOS, Texas – The Texas State softball team fell on Sunday afternoon in the series finale against UL Monroe by a score of 3-2. The Bobcats rallied in the bottom of the fifth inning to get back a pair of runs, but could not muster enough hits to take control of the game.
 
With the loss, Texas State falls to 17-11 overall and 2-1 in Sun Belt Conference action while UL Monroe improved to 15-10 overall and 1-2 in SBC play.
 
The first inning for the Warhawks was the key difference in the game, as the Bobcats were never able to recover from allowing three runs. UL Monroe got a single to lead off the game and with two outs, got a second base runner on after a walk. With runners on first and second, Faith Bohack stepped up to the plate and ripped a two-run double to left center field.
 
The Warhawks added one more run in the top of the first with another hit to the outfield.
 
Texas State struggled to get the bats going early, recording just two hits in the first four innings. In the bottom of the fifth, however, Bobcat first baseman Kendall Wiley recorded the biggest hit of the game for Texas State as she smacked a line drive double to left center field, scoring Jordan Masek and Timishia North who found their way to the base paths with a pair of walks.
 
Rayn House earned the loss, falling to 14-6 overall. She struck out seven batters while walking three. Along with Wiley, Kelli Baker and North each recorded hits for the Bobcats. UL Monroe finished the game outhitting the Bobcats, 6-3.
 
Texas State will hit the road on Tuesday for a single game match-up against Big 12 opponent Baylor. First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m. in Waco, Texas. Live stats will be available at txstatebobcats.com.
