SAN MARCOS, Texas – With 22 total runs and 20 hits, the Texas State Softball team picked up its first two conference victories on Saturday afternoon, defeating the UL Monroe Warhawks by a score of 14-11 in game one and 8-0 in game two.
Rayn House improved to 14-5 overall after earning the win in both contests.

The Bobcats (17-10, 2-0 SBC) used a nine-run first inning to propel past the Warhawks in game one. The Bobcats sent 14 batters up to the plate in the first, recording seven hits en route to the nine runs scored.
Kendall Wiley got the bats started for the Bobcats, hitting a two-run double to left field, scoring
Kelli Baker and
Timishia North who reached the paths by way of walks.

After a scoreless second, the Warhawks cut into the Bobcat lead in the top of the third, adding five runs due to four hits including a pair of home runs.

Texas State got three runs back in the bottom half of the third, capped by a two-run shot by
Courtney Harris.
Â
The squads proceeded to score a combined five runs through the end of the contest. Texas State finished the game with 13 hits, the second highest hit total recorded this season.

North finished the game going 2-for-4 with a team-high five RBI's while Wiley and Harris each racked up three hits and six combined RBI's.

Game two started off in favor of the Bobcats and remained that way through the end of the game. In the first at bat of the game, Baker got the Bobcats on the board with a solo shot down the right field line.

Baker racked up three more RBI's in the top of the second inning after hitting her second home run of the game and fourth of the season to put Texas State up 4-0 against the visiting Warhawks.

The Bobcats continued their scoring rampage in the bottom of the third, tacking on three more behind the lead of
Coralee Ramirez who hit a triple to left field, scoring Prado and Harris.

In the top of the fourth, the Warhawks threatened to put runs on the board until
Bianca Prado threw out the lead runner at third on a fielder's choice play for the second out of the inning. The inning promptly ended with a line drive to Wiley at first.

With one run added in the bottom of the fourth, the Bobcats went into the top of the fifth inning up 8-0. House allowed just one more hit in the top of the fifth before the Texas State defense shut down the Warhawks for the second victory of the game.

In game two, House allowed five hits with a pair of strikeouts. She has now struck out 125 batters this season and owns a 1.88 ERA after completing her seventh shutout of the season.

Baker finished game two going 2-for-3 with four RBI's while Ramirez stepped in and went 1-for-2 with a pair of runs scored and a pair of RBI's.
