Game Notes

New Orleans, La. – The Texas State women's basketball tournament will look to earn a berth in the Sun Belt Championship game, as it squares off against the No. 1 seed Arkansas State Red Wolves, Friday at 12:00 p.m., at the Lakefront Arena in New Orleans.

Last Time Out

The Bobcats outperformed Georgia State, in nearly every statistic throughout the game, en route to a 78-44 victory on Wednesday. Texas State shot 47.5 percent (29-of-61) from the field, compared to Georgia State's mark of just 25.8 percent (16-of-62). The difference in the game statistically came from the three-point line where the Bobcats were 10-of-21 compared to the Panthers just going 3-of-13. Ayriel Anderson and Meghan Braeuer each had four made threes apiece.

The Bobcats' offensive clinic continued after Georgia State started hitting some shots of its own. Texas State was able to work the ball inside to Ashley Ezeh who had her way with the 6-4 center Brittany Logan of Georgia State. Ezeh finished the first half with 15 points, and was the game's top scorer overall with 23 points. She also chipped in seven rebounds, two blocks and four steals.

A Look at Arkansas State

Arkansas State has already secured a postseason berth for itself by virtue of winnning the Sun Belt regular season championship with a record of 14-4. The title assures the Red Wolves of going to the WNIT if the team does not advance to the NCAA Tournament.

The Red Wolves feature the Sun Belt Player of the Year in sophomore guard Aundrea Gamble. Gamble leads the squad with 18.6 points per game, has 130 assists and 67 assists. She ranks 2nd in scoring, 2nd in assists, 3rd in steals and 6th in FG percentage.

The Red Wolves have four players averaging in double digits in scoring.

Bobcat Tidbits

The Bobcats' 78-44 win over Georgia State on Thursday was its largest margin of victory in a conference tournament game, surpassing the previous best of 27 (79-52) against UT Arlington in 2003.

Texas State's defensive effort of 44 points against vs. Georgia State marked the fewest points ever allowed in a postseason game. For the season the Bobcats are allowing 66.7 points per game, their fewest in a season since 2002-03 when they allowed 66.7 points per game.
