Box Score
DENTON, Texas – In game one of the Texas Shootout, the Texas State softball team fell to host school North Texas by a score of 1-0. Senior pitcher
Rayn House allowed just four hits while striking out six and walking one in the defeat.
Â
The lone run in the contest came in the bottom of the first inning after a back-to-back triple and double put the Mean Green on the board. Along with House on the mound, the Bobcat defense proceeded to hold North Texas scoreless through the remainder of the contest while allowing just two more hits.
Â
In the bottom of the second inning with two outs,
Delia Saucedo recorded the only Bobcat hit of the evening with her second double of the 2014 season. The Bobcats added another base runner after
Bianca Prado got walked, but a fly-out to right field by
Lexi Fryar would halt the Bobcats chances of tying up the game.
Â
Texas State got a base runner on in the third, fourth, and fifth innings by way of walks, but were never able to capitalize against the Mean Green.
Â
The Bobcats fall to 8-4 on the year and will look to bounce back tomorrow afternoon when they take on former Southland Conference foe in Sam Houston State at 1 p.m. to continue with the Texas Shootout. Texas State will then play a second game at 3 p.m. against Abilene Christian. Live stats are available at txstatebobcats.com and further information about the Texas Shootout can be found
