SAN MARCOS, Texas – After celebrating the holiday season, the Texas State women's basketball team will hit the road to begin Sun Belt Conference play beginning Tuesday, Dec. 30. First on the conference slate for Texas State are the Troy Trojans. The Bobcats will then travel to Georgia Southern on Jan. 3 and finish the road trip with a contest against Georgia State on Jan. 5 before returning back to Strahan Coliseum.

The Bobcats finished the 2014 non-conference schedule with a 5-4 record, picking up a key victory against I-35 rival UTSA on the road. The last time that the Bobcats defeated UTSA on the road was back in 2008.

A Look At The Competition
The Troy Trojans also enter the 2014-15 Sun Belt Conference schedule with a 5-4 record, earning victories over Southeastern Louisiana, Florida A&M, Samford, Alabama State, and most recently, Tennessee State.

In the preseason, the Trojans were picked to finish fifth in the SBC. Last season, the Bobcats defeated Troy in both meetings. In the second meeting of the year, now-junior guard Ayriel Anderson rattled off a career-high 31 points in the 95-92 victory at Troy.

After losing Joanna Harden, the leading scorer from the 2013-14 Troy squad, the Trojans are led by Ronita Garrett who is posting 15.3 points per game. In addition to leading the team in points, she is leading the squad with 10.6 rebounds per contest. Ashley Beverly-Kelley is also an offensive threat for the Trojans, posting 13.2 PPG.

The Trojans are under the direction of Chanda Rigby who is currently in her third season at the helm.

Bobcat Tidbits
Coming into conference play, the Bobcats are second in the conference in three-point percentage with a mark of 36.6 percent. Senior guard Meghan Braeuer has been a leading force outside the arc for the Bobcats as she has a conference-high 35 made three's on 51.5 percent shooting. The Belton, Texas native is averaging 14.8 points per game, good enough for seventh in the conference.

With 15 points and five made three's against Bethune-Cookman and an additional 13 points against Stetson, Braeuer was named to the Stetson Hatter Classic All-Tournament Team.

With 90 career made three-pointers, Anderson is just one three-pointer away from moving up on the all-time three-point list. Anderson finished the game against Stetson with three made three-pointers and a team-high 13 points.

At the Stetson Hatter Classic, junior center Kileah Mays recorded back-to-back 10 rebound games. She is now averaging a career-high 8.2 rebounds per game and over the last four games, Mays has recorded nine total blocks.

Texas State was picked to finish third in the SBC after finishing in a tie for third-place last season. The Bobcats look to improve upon last season's semifinal finish at the conference tournament and first-ever WBI appearance, the first postseason appearance for Texas State since the 2008 season.

This preseason, juniors Erin Peoples and Anderson were both chosen to All-SBC Preseason Teams. Peoples, a 6-0 guard from Little Rock, Ark., was named to the First-Team while Anderson, a 5-3 guard from Irving, Texas, was named to the Third-Team.

The Bobcats are led by head coach Zenarae Antoine who is currently in her fourth season at the helm of Texas State.
