SAN MARCOS, Texas – The Texas State soccer team fell on Sunday afternoon to University of Texas-El Paso by a score of 1-0. The Miners got on the board in the 85th minute for the lone goal of the contest.

The first half of the game was a true defensive battle as both teams were held scoreless. Gardini made two saves in the first half as the Miners were able to get a total of five shots off. UTEP's defense kept the Bobcat offense from getting off a shot in the first half.

The Texas State offense came out a little more aggressive in the second half, putting together runs that got three shots off, including two on goal.

The difference maker came in the 86th minute as UTEP's Aleah Davis received a pass from Jade Babcock and broke away from a Bobcat defender for a one-on-one against Gardini. Davis was able to get her shot past Gardini for the eventual game-winner

Coach Conner named the team's MVP's at the conclusion of the contest.
