Box Score SAN MARCOS, Texas – The Texas State soccer team notched its first win in three contests on Friday evening as the Bobcats defeated Sam Houston State by a score of 2-1. The Bearkats got on the board first in the first half, but a pair of goals on fresh legs helped propel the Bobcats to victory.
The win on Friday evening improves the Bobcats to 3-3-1 while Sam Houston State falls to 2-3-1.
Sam Houston State got on the board early in the first as the Bearkat's Tricia Mallory connected off of a corner kick by Madison Bible. It was the first corner kick of the game for either team. About 15 minutes later, Sam Houston was provided another opportunity to score, but a diving save by Bobcat goalkeeper
Natalie Gardini kept it a 0-1 game.

rd minute as freshman
Clarissa Leon connected with a pass from
Sydney Curry at the top of the box. Leon had entered the game just two and a half minutes prior to her first regular season goal of her career. Senior Gabby Cottee was credited with the assist as Curry's pass deflected off of her knee and toward Leon.
The squads went into the intermission tied at one a piece while Texas State was leading the shot count, 10-5.
Just 18 seconds into the second half, sophomore
Lynsey Curry scored the eventual game winning goal with a shot that floated over the Bearkat goalkeepers head.
Texas State recorded 12 shots in the second period compared to just three by the Bearkats. Gardini recorded two saves in the game as Bearkat goalkeeper recorded 11 saves.
Coach Conner recognized the MVP's at the conclusion of the contest.
