FINAL RESULTS
BATON ROUGE, La. – Texas State took three events at the LSU Alumni Gold meet Saturday, a meet full of Olympic medalists.
Kelsey Titzman,
Tina Valenzuela and
Allie Saunders all took first place in their events while the Bobcats also made impressive showings in a few other events.
Saunders made a triple jump of 12.12 meters (39-09.25) to take first at the LSU Alumni Gold and put up a result that is the third best in the Western Athletic Conference.
Valenzuela and Titzman didn't register WAC bests, but their performances did give them first at the LSU Alumni Gold. Titzman won the shot put with a throw of 15.70 meters (51-06.55) and Valenzuela took first in the long jump with a distance of 5.82 meters (19-01.25), just short of her personal record 5.83 meters.
Jessica Thomas wasn't far behind, finishing third in the long jump, with a jump of 5.66 meters (18-07.00).
Jalisa Hall didn't win the hammer throw but came in second with a throw of 57.87 meters (189-10) to put her first place in the WAC.
Freshman
Dasha Tsema continues her great season throwing the discus with a third place finish at 46.84 meters (153-08). It did not approach her personal record and WAC leading throw of 50 meters, but it was good enough for third at the meet in Baton Rouge, La.
Briana Sharp finished second in the “B” group of the 800-meter runners with a time of 2:09.31, and that time put her fourth in the WAC
Texas State returns home next week to host the Bobcat Classic before heading to the WAC Outdoor Championships in Arlington after that.
