Texas State vs. Texas Cancelled Amid a 3-3 Tie

SAN MARCOS, Texas – Texas State's schedule game against Texas was called Saturday due to inclement weather in the area. The teams played into the top of the second inning and were tied, 3-3, at the time the decisions was made. The game has not been rescheduled at this time.

For fans who braved the weather to come to the game, Texas State will grant access to any future softball game to any fan that can present a ticket from Saturday's game.

Texas opened the game with a run in the top of the first, but Texas State answered with three in the bottom of the inning. The Longhorns added two more runs in the second before the game was called.

For Texas State, Kellie Baker, Brooke Baker, Haley Lemons and Courtney Harris all tallied a hit while Haley, Anna Hernandez and Delia Saucedo both picked up RBIs.

With two outs in the first, Texas shortstop Taylor Thom knocked the first hit of the game, a single up the middle. Next, catcher Mandy Ogle earned a walk to push Thom into scoring position. The pitcher, Kim Bruins followed with a double to left field to score Thom, but Ogle tried to stretch for another run. Texas State relayed the ball, and Harris made the throw to catcher Macie Hair in time for the tag and the third out.

Left fielder Kellie Baker helped Texas State rebound in the bottom of the inning with a leadoff double to right centerfield. Brooke Baker kept it going with a single just over the third baseman's head to move Kellie to third. After that, Lemons scored Baker with a single down the left line to tie the game.

Next, Harris turned on her first pitch from Bruins to send another single up the middle and load the bases. Hernandez used patience to pick up an RBI with a walk, and then the Bobcats added another run when Bruins hit Saucedo to put Texas State ahead, 3-1, with no outs.

Texas added two runs to tie it, and, after a conference, authorities called the game.

The two teams will meet again in Austin at 3 p.m. Sunday for the originally scheduled game.
