Bobcat Softball Grabs 7-4 Win At Seattle U

Box Score

Seattle, Wash. – Texas State captured a 7-4 victory at Seattle U for its second win of the weekend. The Bobcats used a seven-run inning to earn the win on the road.

Seattle U (13-21, 2-4 WAC) was the first team to strike as Rogin Hardy lined one up the middle in the bottom of the third inning to score Isabella Geronimo from second base.

The Redhawks lead did not hold for long as the Bobcats (7-27, 2-4 WAC) began to catch a rhythm. Texas State had a pair of walks to start the inning, and with one out on the scoreboard Haley Lemons singled to left field to load the bases.

Coralee Ramirez stepped to the plate next and singled to centerfield to push Kellie Baker home for the tying run. The next two Bobcat runs came on a throwing error by the Redhawks pitcher who threw the ball in the dirt in an attempt to make the play at home.

Ramirez was able to score on a single by Anna Hernandez, with Hernandez later scoring on a double by Jordan Masek. Texas State's final two runs came on a double by Baker. The Bobcats powered out seven runs on five hits to take the 7-1 lead.

Seattle U cut into the Bobcats' lead in the bottom of the fifth with a pair of runs, and added one more in the sixth inning to come to within three runs. The Redhawks fell short in the seventh in an attempt at a comeback victory to drop the series to the Bobcats.

Rayn House (3-12) earned the win today for her first conference victory of the season. Delia Saucedo earned the save; her second of the season. Masek, Lemons, Ramirez, and Hernandez all registered two hits apiece to lead the Bobcat offense.

Today was the first time Texas State has scored seven or more runs since March 2 in a 7-1 win over Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.

Texas State returns to San Marcos next week to begin their five-game home stretch. The Bobcats will host Houston Baptist on Tuesday, April 2 at 6 p.m. Texas State will then welcome Louisiana Tech for a three-game weekend series beginning on Friday, April 5.
