Game Notes
San Marcos, Texas – Texas State started conference play with a 2-1 series win over New Mexico State and will host Seattle this weekend. But in the midweek, the Bobcats will take on Texas in Austin at 6 p.m. Tuesday. Texas State is looking for its first victory against the Longhorns since April 27, 2005, a 2-1 Bobcat victory.
For the Bobcats, it will be righty
Jeremy Hallonquist on the mound. Hallonquist has only made four appearances on the season with one start but was part of a combined shutout and has an earned run average of 3.86. He'll be facing Chad Hollingsworth, another righty, who owns a 3-1 record with a 3.86 ERA.
Both teams are coming off road trips as the Bobcats return from Las Cruces, N.M. while Texas just finished taking a series at Minnesota, 2-1. Before the last two wins of that series, though, the Longhorns dropped three in a row and four of five. Texas dropped two to Texas Tech to start Big XII Conference play.
While the Bobcats may have struggled offensively to start the season, Texas State boasts five player hitting .300 or more while Texas only has three. Hallonquist will have to watch out for Mark Payton as he is hitting an eye-popping .415 on the season.
